If Harry Truman Talked Like A Republican......

A friend for whom I have a tremendous amount of respect, but with whose politics I completely disagree posted the picture and quote on the left (punny!) from an anti-Tea Party page. It is the PERFECT example for why I started posting "If Republicans Talked Like Democrats" on my blog, so I had to share it...... after I gave it a makeover and added the text on the right (I am SO punny!).

The Republi.. Wait, No, The DEMOCRAT War On Women

A conservative media personality calls Sandra Fluke a slut and America goes into a full-on rage for months... Advertisers are pressed to pull their ads, people are told to boycott his show, every Democrat politician weighs in, NOW calls for war... It's ALL we hear from every media outlet, journalist, celebrity, politician, and...well...just about everyone, 24 hours a day for two months.
A liberal media personality publishes a photoshopped picture of conservative S. E. Cupp, made to look like she's performing oral sex - WITH A PENIS IN HER MOUTH - and... Crickets. Nothing. Except (surprisingly) from the women on The View; most specifically, Whoopi Goldberg (thank you!).  Rachel Maddow discussed the Sandra Fluke incident every day for months, but surprisingly has yet to come out in defense of her fellow female journalist... Roseanne Barr went so far in several interviews and numerous tweets to say S. E. got what she deserved (cough-cough-poorthingisjustjealous-cough)... Seriously??

I searched some sites that appeared to be outraged over the degrading of women a few months ago during the Sandra Fluke debacle for articles and references to both incidents. Based on the results, I'm having a hard time understanding how Republicans are the ones waging a war on women. I was so appalled by the results that I had to post them. Enjoy...

Huffington Post
Sandra Fluke: 17,500
S. E. Cupp: 0

NOW.org
Sandra Fluke: 35
S. E. Cupp: 0

MSNBC.com
Sandra Fluke: 83,900
S. E. Cupp: 0

Media Matters.org
Sandra Fluke: 134
S. E. Cupp: 0

New York Times
Sandra Fluke: 441
S. E. Cupp: 1

I'll stop there because I'm just getting mad again. I can't believe I'm spending any time on the diversion disguised as a war against women, but I'm sick and tired of the hypocrisy from the left; especially when it comes to this issue. Last time I checked, acceptable treatment of women didn't come with an exclusion clause for conservatives. Apparently I was wrong.

LGBT: Obama's Pawns

WHYYYY is the LGBT community falling to their knees in praise of Obama's (sudden) "evolutionary" support of same sex marriage?  Is the timing of his big announcement lost on everyone?? Just as he's been using women as pawns in his re-election campaign, he's using the gay community, too. And they're letting him. I have a lot of gay friends and I'm completely baffled as to their excitement over this whole thing. Actions always speak louder than words, and this is a prime example.
Why did he make his statement when he did? Because it's safe. He has had chance after chance to voice his support of gay marriage and influence both voters and legislators, but he conveniently managed to "come out" AFTER all the votes across the country on the issue (save a ballot initiative this November in Maine and possibly in Maryland and Washington), but with enough time left to gain greater support from the LGBT community BEFORE the presidential election in November. LOVE a great coincidence. Love TWO great coincidences even more.... Obama's announcement also came just after public opinion on the issue passed the 50% mark.  Seriously? Come on...
I'm not arguing either side of the same-sex marriage debate, but whether or not you support it, you have to admit his timing is a little off.

Here's why...

February 2012: A bill legalizing same-sex marriage passed both houses in the New Jersey legislature but was vetoed by Governor Christie.
Obama: (crickets)

February 2012: Washington state legislature voted to legalize same-sex marriage. Residents who oppose the bill, however, are working to gain enough signatures to place a referendum repealing the law on the November ballot.
Obama: (crickets)

March 2012: Maryland Governor O'Malley signed into law a bill legalizing same-sex marriage. As in Washington, opponents are trying to procure enough signatures to put a repeal referendum on the November ballot.
Obama: (crickets)

May 2012: North Carolina voted on the controversial Amendment One bill. I live in NC and trust me...this amendment is ALL anyone - including politicians and the media - talked about for months before the vote to ban same-sex marriage....which passed.
Obama: (crickets throughout the months and months and months and months of discussing and debating the amendment that garnered enormous interest nationwide.....but made his big announcement of support the day AFTER the bill to ban same-sex marriage passed.)

Scheduled for November 2012: Maine ballot initiative in November election to legalize same-sex marriage after it passed in 2009 but was repealed by voter referendum.
Obama: (crickets)

May 2011: Delaware legislature legalized civil unions for same-sex couples.
Obama: (crickets)

July 2011: New York legalized same-sex marriage.
Obama: (crickets)

2012 & 2011: Colorado tried to pass a law recognizing same-sex civil unions, but failed both times.
Obama: (crickets)

It's hard for me to see sincerity there. Although, I do have to give him a little credit. He did promise transparency in his last campaign....  I can see right through him. How 'bout you?

If Republicans Talked Like Democrats....

Fact: Black women under the age of 50 are twice as likely to develop and / or die from breast cancer than Caucasian women. Obamacare raises the required age for covered mammograms and breast cancer screenings for women who cannot afford them from 40 to 50.

If Republicans Talked Like Democrats: "President Obama and Democrats hate black women and want them to die of breast cancer on the hospital floor. Stop the Democrat war against black women!"

See? Things aren't always what they seem. Educate yourself, America.
