LGBT: Obama's Pawns

WHYYYY is the LGBT community falling to their knees in praise of Obama's (sudden) "evolutionary" support of same sex marriage?  Is the timing of his big announcement lost on everyone?? Just as he's been using women as pawns in his re-election campaign, he's using the gay community, too. And they're letting him. I have a lot of gay friends and I'm completely baffled as to their excitement over this whole thing. Actions always speak louder than words, and this is a prime example.
Why did he make his statement when he did? Because it's safe. He has had chance after chance to voice his support of gay marriage and influence both voters and legislators, but he conveniently managed to "come out" AFTER all the votes across the country on the issue (save a ballot initiative this November in Maine and possibly in Maryland and Washington), but with enough time left to gain greater support from the LGBT community BEFORE the presidential election in November. LOVE a great coincidence. Love TWO great coincidences even more.... Obama's announcement also came just after public opinion on the issue passed the 50% mark.  Seriously? Come on...
I'm not arguing either side of the same-sex marriage debate, but whether or not you support it, you have to admit his timing is a little off.

Here's why...

February 2012: A bill legalizing same-sex marriage passed both houses in the New Jersey legislature but was vetoed by Governor Christie.
Obama: (crickets)

February 2012: Washington state legislature voted to legalize same-sex marriage. Residents who oppose the bill, however, are working to gain enough signatures to place a referendum repealing the law on the November ballot.
Obama: (crickets)

March 2012: Maryland Governor O'Malley signed into law a bill legalizing same-sex marriage. As in Washington, opponents are trying to procure enough signatures to put a repeal referendum on the November ballot.
Obama: (crickets)

May 2012: North Carolina voted on the controversial Amendment One bill. I live in NC and trust me...this amendment is ALL anyone - including politicians and the media - talked about for months before the vote to ban same-sex marriage....which passed.
Obama: (crickets throughout the months and months and months and months of discussing and debating the amendment that garnered enormous interest nationwide.....but made his big announcement of support the day AFTER the bill to ban same-sex marriage passed.)

Scheduled for November 2012: Maine ballot initiative in November election to legalize same-sex marriage after it passed in 2009 but was repealed by voter referendum.
Obama: (crickets)

May 2011: Delaware legislature legalized civil unions for same-sex couples.
Obama: (crickets)

July 2011: New York legalized same-sex marriage.
Obama: (crickets)

2012 & 2011: Colorado tried to pass a law recognizing same-sex civil unions, but failed both times.
Obama: (crickets)

It's hard for me to see sincerity there. Although, I do have to give him a little credit. He did promise transparency in his last campaign....  I can see right through him. How 'bout you?
